Victorian Mahogany & Leather Dining Chairs in the Style of Gillows, 1860s, Set of 6

A suite of six absolutely exquisite quality hand made in England Mahogany framed dining chairs after Gillows These chairs are honestly the finest quality, they are certainly made by Gillows of Lancaster and London however they don’t have external stamps and I don’t want to remove the bases to have a look inside. These chairs have the very rare handrail backs so they are easy to pull in and out, I’ve only ever seen one or two other suites with this back rail in my time They are made from extremely dense, heavy, solid mahogany which has been beautifully hand carved, the castors are all period white porcelain. The leather upholstery is Bordeaux, fully aniline, it was upholstered plain then hand dyed.
