Italian two-seat sofa in red corduroy velvet by Grand Hotel Duomo Milano, 1950s Extremely rare red corduroy sofa from fifties, coming from Grand Hotel del Duomo in Milan, design by Gio Ponti and Melchiorre Bega, like all the other hotel furnishings. Two-seat structure with armrest and a high comfortable back side, all covered in its original red corduroy, with a single line of stitching on it and a wide curved shape for the headrest. It stays on four wooden turned legs, with a really sturdy structure. Generally in good condition with original fabric, a bit dirty on the middle part of the headrest, where the colour is a bit lighter than in the rest of the sofa. Anyway is a mix of a never ending beauty and rareness. Domus n. 250 sept 1950, pag 21-28.
