As the 100th anniversary of the American revolution neared, people harkened back to the styles of furniture from the beginning of the United States. For a few years they made handmade reproductions of those styles. This chest is a copy of a New England Sheraton cookie-corner chest. The decoration with quarter fan-and-arrow line inlay is particularly fine. The barley twist turned corner columns which terminate in the turned feet are very well done. The Sandwich style glass knobs add a wonderful look to the piece but appear to be replacements not original. The 4-drawer chest is mahogany & mahogany veneer with satinwood inlay and pine secondary wood.
