Vintage Design
This is a beautiful Regency Revival dining suite comprising a flame mahogany circular dining table dating from Circa 1980 and a set of six flame mahogany dining chairs. The fabulous 5ft 3 inch diameter flame mahogany table was made by the Master Cabinet maker William Tillman and bears his label on the underside. It can seat six people in comfort. The top is crossbanded with satinwood and features ebony stringing, it sits on a solid mahogany hand turned column with quadruple swept square fluted sabre legs which are fitted with brass toes and castors. The matching set of six Regency Revival flame mahogany dining chairs are made of solid mahogany with fabulous satinwood crossbanded decoration accented with boxwood and ebony line inlay. They stand on elegant reeded tapering front legs with sabre back legs. They all have drop in seats which are upholstered in a striking burgundy and gold fabric. The seat cushions can be removed to reveal cane seats which allow for cooler and more comfortable dining in the warmer summer months. There is no mistaking the fine craftsmanship of this handsome suite which represents all the very best elements of English furniture making. It is certain to become a treasured addition to your furniture collection and a talking point with guests at meal times. It has been sold in all of the famous London Stores including Harrods,Peter Jones and Maples and will almost certainly be considered important antique furniture of the future. Every piece of furniture was produced with the utmost skill and knowledge to ensure that the finished article would bear the most critical comparison with the original. Whilst the polish used was resistant to heat and water, the finished surface has a wax patination similar to that found on early furniture. Tillman pieces won the British Furniture Manufacturers, Showpiece of the Year award in three consecutive years.
