This wonderfully displayed, early American Federal period Cherry “Gothic Chippendale” style Large Corner Cupboard has evidence of poplar secondary wood. The handsome gothic-barred glazed doors retain their original glass and deep mullions. The swan-neck pediment is graceful and the egg and spool motifs along the side pilasters are reminiscent of mid-Atlantic region pieces. It is in two pieces, so it can be transported with relative ease. It is an imposing size and would make quite a statement in any room. The paint on the inside of the upper section and lower section appear to be original. The condition for this piece is considered age-appropriate and excellent. The locks and hardware appear to be original as well, save for one of the round wooden pulls on the side by side horizontal drawers which “may” be a later replacement due to its slightly different color. Please note hand-cut dovetails and pegged construction. This is a fabulous example of good early American furniture.
