American Federal period brass ball and steeple top andirons. The belted balls are surmounted by a spire that adds height and elegance to these early 19th century andirons. The belted ball and spire are supported by a round column that sits upon cabriole legs with spurred knees and pad feet. These andirons retain their original brass steeple top log stops which are secured into the original wrought iron log holders. As one would expect from this period, the andirons are cast brass of seamed construction. This pattern of andiron was primarily made in New York. Circa 1800. Measure: 19 inches high.
