1950’s Lamstak Dining Chairs By James Leonard For ESA – Set Of Four. This is one of our favourite models of chairs. Designed by James Leonard for the ESA company it was an iconic school, Church, community chair of the 50’s. Lamstak was a large producer of chairs in the mid century period. They pioneered making chairs using laminated beech bentwood for strength and these are classic examples. They are strong easily stackable chairs and make great practical cafe/restaurant chairs and this batch are in exceptional condition, with very little signs of use or wear. The chair frame is made of exceptionally strong laminated beech with laminated ply seats and back supports. In our view James Leonard is the unsung hero of British Post War design. His ESA company transformed the design led fit out of schools in the post war period but his legacy is hardly known. We service and rejuvenate all our chairs in our own workshop and we deliver chairs of excellent quality. Seat Height 45cm.
