Contemporary Design
Produced in the Botswana studio of Peter Mabeo, the Pula table is Venetian designer Luca Nichetto’s homage to an iconic mid-century design by Italian master Enzo Mari. The Pula table is inspired by the Euro coin. It is designer Luca Nichetto’s translation of the coin shape into a full-scale piece of furniture. The end result is a series of elegant coffee tables that have been laminated, shaped, and milled by Mabeo craftsmen and women. During the collaborative process, Mabeo made the request to honor the local currency of Botswana with the table, hence the name Pula (which also means precious rain in Setswana).
The Pula series is available in single sizes for smaller spaces. Individual tables can also be nested together to create an expansive coffee table set for a spacious living room or reception area. Each Pula table is handmade in sustainable hardwoods, using tried and tested methods in Botswana.
