Rare Vienna Secession period Thonet No. 5 bentwood beech settee or bench from Austria. The settee features gracefully curved bentwood back and arms ending with whimsical scrolls. The back has a distinctive heart shaped inset with woven honeycomb cane and the seat is also caned. The bench is stamped on bottom “Thonet-Austria”. Impressive piece in well preserved good condition with stable joinery. From an estate in San Francisco, CA.
